Hello Lovelies!

Today, I’m starting something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I’m starting a weekly Monday style post for all my career girl out there who would like tips on styling your wardrobe for work.

I for one, usually buy clothes with work in mind, seeing as how I spend over half my time there. Casual, fun clothes are great, but if they aren’t versatile for work, they aren’t going to be worn very much by me.

Speaking of versatile clothes, I bought my very first blazer a month ago. I know, closet staple and somehow I’ve managed to not have one until now. But, I bit the bullet and bought a second hand JCrew Schoolboy blazer from Poshmark. ( FYI, if you haven’t checked this site out yet, you must! It is literally the best for secondhand clothes. The closest I’ve come to a website like Threadflip. )

At first, I really had no idea how styling a blazer really worked. I mean, I had friends who paired them with jeans and dresses, but every time I put one on, it felt like my shoulders were too big and I looked like someone wearing clothes I had borrowed.

But, after buy this blazer and trying it on, I was determined to style it and wear it. No matter how big I thought my shoulders looked.

So, I guess my number one styling tip would be to wear whatever you like with confidence. So what if your shoulders look a little big, or your legs look shorter? If you like it, wear it! Don’t let others opinions ( like I did ) sway your love of whatever fashion style you pursue.

1 | Roll the sleeves up.

One of my favorite things to do is buy jackets with unique linings. Then, you can roll up the sleeve and it gives just a touch fun to your outfit.

2 | Leave it unbuttoned.

I’m sure this is kind of a no brainer. You button something up, it’s going to look button-up. LOL.

3 | Styling a blazer neutrally.

I love fun patterns and colors for uniqueness, but when you’re investing in a staple piece, neutral is the best way to go.
