Hello to all my lovely and handsome readers,

Hopefully your week has been going well. I know with everything going on in the world right now, everything can seem a little bleak.

Lately, with quarantining, I’ve been trying to find things to do that are productive as well as enjoyable. One thing I never seem to have enough time for is reading. I don’t know if any of you can relate to this, but a lot of the time, I feel like my mind is spinning and won’t slow down enough to read, let alone retain, the information before me.

So, I’m taking this opportunity to not think so much about all the things that I would normally let distract me and slow down to enjoy a good book. I’ve put some of my favorite below if you would like some suggestions for yourself. The best thing about books is they work all the time, don’t run out of battery, have amazing shelf life, and over all always teach us something.

Check out my suggestions or grab that book that you’ve been wanting to devour and start today!

1. 206 Bones by Kathy Reichs this is a murder mystery that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s not super deep, but it will keep you attention.

2. Essentialism by Greg McKeown I’m still getting into this book, but I love it so far! Our lives can become so hectic; this book shows you how to slow down and prioritize.

3. The Girl Who Reads on the Metro by Christine Feret-Fleury I happened upon this book perchance at a book store right off of Jacksonville Beach. The story is very poignant, but also beautiful and endearing.

4. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen if you’re looking for a classic romance without the sap, this is it! This is by far my favorite book by Jane; the beauty of the story will completely enthrall you.

5. The Count of Monte Christo by Alexander Dumas this is such a beautiful tale of redemption. Without giving too much away, what was meant for evil didn’t win in the end.
