Hello Lovelies!

I love fall. It’s literally my favorite time of year. And you will hear me say this a hundred more times in the future.

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite aspects of fall, candles. Candles are so relaxing and can make a room smell like just about anything. And this time of year, cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, ginger, and cranberry are just a few fragrances that put me in the fall mood.

Right now, Walmart has a new line of candles called American Home by Yankee Candle. They have a large selection of fragrances and colors that will definitely add fall to every room in your home. They can be found in the Home and Candle section.

I bought Pumpkin Apple Harvest ( 12oz ) for $10.93, Fresh Apple ( 4oz ) for $4.93 , and Ginger Pumpkin Pie ( 4oz ) also $4.93. My favorite was the Fresh Apple. Call me a traditionalist.

Below, I’ve got some fun craft projects for the empty jars, once the candles burn down. Of course, you can also buy some votives to put in the jars for even more fall goodness. Just remember to always supervise them.

On to the tutorials!

Rustic Votive Decor

You will need:

  – Empty candle jars
  – Hot glue gun
  – Glue sticks
  – Twine
  – Twigs ( just off the ground is fine )
  – Votives ( not pictured )

SIDE NOTE: I cleaned my jars out by running hot water over them. This loosened up the wax and the candle slipped right out. I wiped the excess out of the inside with paper towel while the glass was still warm. To get the sticker residue off the outside, I rubbed a mixture of vegetable oil and baking soda onto the glass and let it sit for a while. Then, I just wiped it off, washed the jars, and they were ready to go!

Step 1. Take a stick and measure it against the side of your jar. Determine how tall you want it.
Step 2. Then, break or cut the stick to desired length.
Step 3. Glue stick to side of jar.
Step 4. Continue like this around the entire jar.
Step 5. When you’ve done the entire jar, tie some twine around the middle for a finishing touch. Add a votive in some water for an outdoorsy, rustic feel.
Light you votives and enjoy the feeling of outdoors, while being in the comfort of one’s home.

  Pencil Holder
  You will need:
  – Empty jar ( I used my largest one )
  – Twine
  – Hot glue gun
  – Glue sticks
Step 1. Take your twine and glue one end near the middle of the jar. Wrap the twine around the jar until desired thickness is achieved.
Step 2. Adjust tightness and glue end in place. Cut off excess.
Step 3. Make a bow out of the twine.
Step 4. Glue bow right on top of glued ends of twine on jar.
And there you have it! A perfect pencil holder with a fall feel to it.

I’ve loved sharing how I get ready for fall. What about you? Which fragrances will you use in your home this fall?
