Back in October, I took a trip to the Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I was such a wonderful trip and so very needed. I literally didn’t follow a single rule. I slept in, ate total junk food and kept the craziest hours imaginable ( I would have been dying if I had been at home ).
The best part about this Tennessee vacation was the fact that I got to relive so many memories from my childhood. I visited every place I had been as a kid and some of them were amazing and others not so much ( you’ll hear more about that in a later review ).
One of the best parts of a Tennessee vacation in the fall is that you get to see the leaves change. Unfortunately, the weather had not gotten quite cold enough yet, so the mountains were still very green. But, honestly, I went at a great time. The roads weren’t icy, all of the attractions I wanted to see were still open and not closed due to bad weather conditions, and I didn’t really have to experience much of a climate change.
For my first review, I’m going to talk about the hotel. I stayed at the Clarion Inn on Willow River in Sevierville, Tennessee. It was just like I had remembered it as a child. The hotel is being renovated at the moment, so going right now may not be the best idea, but any other time, I would say this is a great place to stay. The staff are super friendly, the rooms are so clean, and the free breakfast is to die for. I think I ate my weight in bacon.
The offer a free breakfast ( and isn’t that reason enough to stay? ), a laundry room, an exercise room, free wifi, and an indoor heated pool for all year round, as well as an outdoor pool that is seasonal. ( I did not indulge in the pool as by this time in the year, I’m rivaling Casper. )
If you stay here, you’ll be about 25-30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and and 30-40 minutes from Gatlinburg, depending on the traffic. I really liked staying a little out from the town and the bustle. The hotel is on a river and if you ask, you can get a room with a river view.
The hotel has two different types of accommodations; rooms and suites. The rooms have a choice of two queens and a sofa bed or one king and a sofa bed. The suites contain one king and a sofa bed. All rooms can hold 4-5 people. The suites also have their own fireplaces!
I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel and if the opportunity arises to travel there again, this place will be on the top of the list to choose from. The next Tennessee vacation you plan, be sure to check out the Clarion Inn on Willow River!
