I was so sure I would be able to keep up a really good schedule the more ways that I could stay organized in my blogging, but it turns out that best laid plans sometimes don’t always pan out.
I haven’t been blogging like I would want to this past month, or honestly since that new year began. I had all these grand plans and for some reason, I just felt like something was holding me back. I really didn’t know what it was, until today when I was listening to a podcast on how to live an elegant and excellent life. The podcaster was explaining that there are two types of people; hustlers and procrastinators.
Hustlers are the ones who are involved in every single activity known to man, have volunteered for every project, are studying to be a brain surgeon and are also trying to save the world…ok maybe not that last part, but you get the idea. They don’t move forward due to doing too many things mediocrely.
Procrastinators are the ones who just don’t move forward due to lack of courage or confidence. This ‘something’ may not work out, so they just don’t put themselves out there. Their mantra is ‘I’ll do this when…’ and literally that time is never going to come.
And then there is the middle sweet spot and that is the one you want to aim for. The one where you aren’t overloaded to the max, but at the same time, aren’t paralyzed with the thought of trying something new.
I would say for me, I fall in the procrastinator row.
I tend to shy away from things I don’t understand or seem daunting. I want a map and a guarantee that the path will work out. But we don’t ever get this guarantee no matter what we’re doing or who we are becoming.
So, this post originally started out in my mind to be a slight rant against myself on how lazy I’ve been, etc. But I’m changing that and making it an encouragement post for everyone who doesn’t feel like they’ve succeeded if they haven’t hit every goal. For me, goals are nice, encouraging objectives to spur me on; I may not meet all of them this go round, but I’ll be aiming for it next time.
If you’ve been struggling with blogging ( or any type of ) goals, leave me a comment. I’d love to know how you come at things on your to-do list.
